Working With A Sleep Consultant

Working With a Sleep Consultant

You may be wondering, “what is a sleep consultant?”. Well as a sleep consultant, I educate parents on the importance and biological need for healthy sleep for their children. I work one-on-one with families to create a custom sleep plan for their littles and support them as they implement the plan. In this blog I am going to break down what is looks like working with me as your sleep consultant.

Let’s dive in!

Why Should I Work with a Sleep Consultant?

As soon as you type “how to get my baby to sleep?” into the Google search bar, you are flooded with information. You have probably noticed that some articles say one thing, and others say something completely different. This is because there really is no “one size fits all” all approach to getting babies and young children sleeping well. Some of the strategies that come up in your Google search may seem impossible or easier said than done. By the time you’ve sifted through all the search results, you are overwhelmed, feeling even more confused than you were 20 minutes ago, and still have a baby that is not sleeping as well as you want them to.

If you can relate than that is exactly why working with a sleep consultant would be so beneficial for you. All that information is so hard to process on a good day, let alone as a sleep deprived parent. I know that when I was in the middle of all the sleep struggles with my own daughter, I just wanted someone to tell me exactly what to do; give me a plan that would actually work, and someone to keep me accountable if when I felt like giving up. That is what I can do for you!

The First Step

The first step in working with me as your sleep consultant is a free child sleep assessment. We will hop on the phone together to have a quick chat to get to know each other a little bit and discuss your current sleep challenges. I will then let you know how I can help you overcome those challenges so you and your family can start getting the sleep you all need and deserve. I offer this phone call as a FREE sleep assessment.

The Process

Once you have decided to move forward with working together. I will send you an email with a sleep questionnaire to fill out. It will take you about fifteen minutes to answer all the necessary questions about your child’s current sleep situation. Your answers will help me create a sleep plan specific to your child. It takes me one to two days to complete your sleep plan, then we will meet over video-call. We will have a 60-90 minute consultation to go over the plan in full detail and I will answer any questions you have.

Okay…Now What?

Okay! Great! You have a solid sleep plan, but now what?

Having a great sleep plan is amazing, but what if things don’t go as planned, or what if questions come up after the consultation is over? The BEST part about working with a sleep consultant is that you get follow-up support. Depending on the package you choose, you will get two or three weeks of sleep log tracking as well as phone and/or text support.

That means that while you are working with me as your sleep consultant, you will be able to ask questions on the sleep log. We will have a phone call check-in every few days to discuss how things are going, make changes if needed, and celebrate all the sleep wins along the way. If you are looking for a true hand to hold you can select the premium package that will give you access to me via text messaging.

Making changes to your child’s sleep habits is not easy and having me to lean on during the process to encourage, guide, and support you every step of the way is an absolute game changer. So many parents give up early in the sleep training process because they feel too overwhelmed and aren’t confident in the changes they are making. Working with me will have you feeling confident and better rested than you ever thought possible.

I have a newborn, is the process the same?

Not exactly!

Before the age of four months, we will not be officially “sleep training”. We will instead focus on setting the foundation for healthy, independent sleep habits. I will still send you a questionnaire to complete so that I can understand the current sleep situation. I will create a newborn guide that suits your family and will go over it in detail during a 60–90-minute consultation. During our consult, you will be able to ask questions along the way so that you feel confident in implementing healthy, independent sleep habits.

Newborn sleep needs change very quickly. Working with me as your sleep consultant will give you support until baby is 12 weeks old. We can start working together prenatally or anytime before baby is 8 weeks old.

During our time together, we will have four follow-up phone calls to answer any questions you may have and ensure that you are feeling good heading into the four-month sleep regression.
